The Philadelphia Marathon

Having recently completed P90x, I learned a lot about myself and what I was capable of, both physically and mentally. Going into the program, I never though I’d be able to do a pull-up, let alone five, but here I am. There were times when I thought I was physically exhausted, but gritted through it, and completed the session. It makes one wonder just what we’re capable of…

Looking to continue on with my journey of improving my overall physical fitness and pushing my boundaries and limitations, I’m setting my sites on a new goal – The Philadelphia Marathon.

Not only is the marathon itself a physically daunting task, but anyone who knows me can probably tell you how much I despise running. So for me, it’s also going to be an extreme mental challenge. When it comes to running, I like to say I have a dog’s mentality; I will chase after a ball for hours, whether it be playing golf, soccer, basketball, or tennis. But when it comes to strictly running, I have never been a fan.

And with that, I have begun researching various training programs to find one that suits my current condition. While most recommend having a year’s worth of running experience, I’m jumping in with very little. Although, I’d like to think my current physical condition is good enough to get started, only time will truly tell.

So I invite you to share in my upcoming journey, as I’m sure it’ll be quite a learning experience for me. Advice is also very welcomed! My progress will be documented on my site here, but also via Twitter and Facebook:

Let the training begin!
