Marathon Training has begun!

Today, my marathon training began! While I haven’t settled on a definitive training program, most of them start the same way, which is a few three-mile runs.

So I left early this morning with my training partner, our German Shepherd Dakota, and we made a three mile trip out of some of the local roads in the area.

Overall, I felt pretty good, although I started to struggle a bit around the 2.5 mile mark. I’m starting out at a relatively slow pace of about 10 minutes/mile, but most of the programs encourage this to determine your fitness level.

My brother also showed me Garmin’s nice “connect” feature, which allows you to post your sessions on their site. So here’s a summary of what we accomplished: Training – Day 1

I’m also continuing my strength training with another session of P90x, so I’ll be alternating between that and running. Until next time!
