My First Race – the Sea Girt 5K

Following my back injury, I’ve slowly been getting back to running. I started with a few short jogs just to see how my back would hold up, and everything seems to be good to go. Last week I even upped my normal weekly run distance from three to four miles and completed a new long distance run with six miles. I’m starting to see some signs of improvement, but as you can see, I still have a long way to go.

As part of my training, I’d also like to prepare myself for what it’ll be like on race day, so I’ve decided to partake in a few races before the big day in November. I found a 5K to be held in Sea Girt, New Jersey in a few weeks, so I registered yesterday. Here’s a link to the Sea Girt 5K’s website – link. The race is to be held Sunday, August 1st at 8:30AM, so I have a few weeks to improve my 5K time.

I’ll also be looking to do a 10K in the upcoming months, so stay tuned!
